There is an almost never-ending set of possibilities. Would you like a complete figure? With a standard or custom-made head?
Or perhaps you only want the head, body or torso for your display? Would you like a figure with standard or realistic hands
and feet? Would you like a head with glass eyes or painted eyes? Would you like a new figure, a good second hand one or a restored
figure?
As you can see, there are many choices to be made – and we have not even discussed the costume yet. What must the costume look like?
Which fabrics must be used? Which colours? How many added details?
Standard figures – new, used or restored
Figures can be new, used but in almost perfect condition or restored. New figures are rather expensive, though offer a broad
choice. If you are on the look out for a specific posture or age category, then it may be worthwhile buying a new figure.
A used figure is a good cheaper alternative, which will be in good condition. We have many figures in stock, which means a wide
choice is available to you. If you do not find the desired figure, then we can offer a wide range of figures which can be delivered
from our depot.
A restored figure helps to give a used figure the appearance of a new figure. You thus get the perfect figure, without visible wear and
tear, for a fraction of the price.
Restoration makes many things possible. Broken fingers can be replaced without a trace, damaged arms can be perfectly made to size and
even complete heads can be replaced without trace. It is not always necessary to renovate the whole figure. Sometimes the head and hands
are sufficient because clothes cover the rest of the body. This helps you to save money.
Flexible figures
We also work with flexible figures. Flexible figures offer a number of advantages compared to non-flexible display figures.
Standard female display figures are 1.80m and male figures are 1.85m. This may cause problems in some historic depictions, as people
were considerably smaller a few centuries ago.
Flexible figures are available in various sizes, which helps to represent history in a truer manner. These flexible figures can also
assume almost any position; ideal if they are represented while executing a profession.
It is also possible to attach any head to a flexible figure. You can either choose from our series of standard male and female heads
or you can opt for a custom-made head. Naturally, a custom-made head costs more, although the outcome is unbelievably beautiful. This
option is particularly suitable if the figure represents a particular person.
We are able to supply figures with standard hands and feet or realistic hands and feet which make figures more life like.
We have a wide range of standard heads, which come with painted or glass eyes. Of course, glass eyes add more realism to a face. Upon request, we will be pleased to send you an overview of the entire range.
Custom-made head, combined with flexible figures
The other option is to have a head custom-made to your wishes. This is a great idea when you want to represent an historical
figure that really existed in the past.
We are able to recreate the head by using photos or paintings. A specialised artist first moulds a clay model using the pictures.
This is then used to make a mould, which is
filled with gypsum to create the head. Work is then carried out on the finer details. Another mould is then made of the gypsum head.
The new head is produced in polyester and is painted by hand. The head can thus be supplied in any appearance you choose.
We can have the hairpiece specially made for you (hand knotted) in order to create a realistic look. All hairpieces are created and
carefully fixed in place by our make-up artist. The result is a perfect replica of the person you wanted.
Setting
Our challenge is to present the mannequins to their full advantage in the appropriate setting. Do you want to create a replica of a complete dining room from the past? We not only supply the historical figures but also the dining room itself. Or perhaps you would like to sit a mannequin at an antique desk writing a letter? Or a hairdressing salon from 1880 where the hairdresser is at work creating a beautiful hairstyle.
For this project we replicated a dining room full of characters from the Golden Age.
We also managed to find a stunning antique grand piano for the pianist. The combination of historic figures and matching surroundings makes the appeal even greater.
